DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) is sometimes dubbed the anti-aging hormone. It is an anabolic compound that can buffer the negative effects of cortisol on several bodily functions and illnesses and can protect against burnout, Alzheimer's, and migraine. DHEA-s (Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate) is the sulfated form of DHEA, which represents close to ninety-eight percent of the total circulating DHEA in our body. DHEA-s also shows a smaller intra-individual variance (both from one day to another, or different times of the day), and is not easily affected by stressors, which makes DHEA-s more suitable than DHEA as a health biomarker. Correspondingly, the ratio of DHEA-s over Cortisol often has a stronger effect size on illness than either of the two hormones alone. To obtain saliva for the Stress hormone ratio test, you provide one sample only. Your results will present a reference range as well as an overview of the importance of Cortisol/DHEA-s for health markers.
